About the Northern Blades
​Northern Blades was created and organized in the fall of 1996 and became a Member of U.S. Figure Skating in 1997. The Club’s home rink is the Super Rink at the National Sports Center, in Blaine, Minnesota. Many of our skaters learn to skate by starting with the National Sports Center Learn to Skate Program, and many of our club coaches also teach at it’s ISI (recreational) Skating School.

The Super Rink offers our club many advantages:

8 Total sheets of ice: 4 Olympic-sized and 4 NHL-sized modern heated arenas and one of the premiere ice venues in the country.

Jumpease Ice Harness - Traditional & Bungee System.

Daily ice availability contracted through the National Sports Center.

Participation in the National Sports Center Annual Ice Show.

Our Club currently consists of 75 skater members, 14 collegiate members, 2 alumni members, 10 home club coaches and 2 associate club coaches.

Purpose
Our club's purpose is to foster a community of figure skaters with positive attitudes and good sportsmanship, and to carry out the objects and precepts of the United States Figure Skating Association in accordance with the provisions of the United States Figure Skating by-laws and official rules.

The club’s activities are designed to meet the needs of all its members, regardless of ability, and stresses sportsmanship, discipline, friendship, goodwill and cooperation within its membership.
