Ice Purchase Information

There are two ways to purchase practice Ice:
  1. though an Ice contract, or
  2. on a day-to-day basis as available called Randoming.
ALL ice sales MUST go through the Club ice contracts or Randoms, and CANNOT be sold from one member to another.

Ice Sessions:
Some Ice sessions may be restricted to certain levels or activities. For example:
Ice Contracts: - Click here for the summer contract. (pdf)
An ice contract with a menu of available ice sessions will be sent to all members prior to each new contracting period. Members may select the session(s) they wish to purchase and return the completed contract to the contract chair who will award ice slots based on the Club's seniority system.
A valid contract is: If you are not able to get any ice, your check will be returned to you. If you are not able to get a specific session, the Club will reimburse for that session. A $15.00 fee will be charged for any check returned NSF.

Random Ice:
A list of all ice sessions and the number of contracted skaters is posted on the Club bulletin board, and website to help members plan which sessions have potential availability for random ice. The limit is 18 skaters on Freestyle club ice. The fee for each session varies and is listed on the session contract sheet in the Rink Parent Book.

Random purchasing of ice allows you to purchase on a day-to-day basis, giving you additional flexibility in choosing ice on specific dates. Random ice is sold on a first come first served basis; seniority ranking has no effect. Ice availability is limited to ice not already purchased by contracted skaters, and Prepaid Randoms. The fee for Random ice is higher than for contracted ice.

You may sign up for Random Ice in advance and not prepay. You will need to arrive at the rink at least 10 minutes before the session to hold your spot.

Procedure For Purchasing Random Ice:
  1. Check with the Rink Parent for availability of session you wish to Random.
  2. Place your name in the section for Random Ice Purchase.
  3. If you have placed your name on the Random Ice Purchase in advance and not prepaid, you must arrive at least 10 minutes early to hold your spot.
  4. Make payment before getting on the ice. Please pay by check. NB NSC FSC is not responsible for lost or unrecorded cash payments.
If the session is full, you may still put your name on the list to purchase Random ice. You will have to wait 10 minutes into the ice session to allow contracted skaters and Prepaid Randoms to show up for their session. If at this time a contracted skater or Prepaid Random has not shown up for their session, you may buy out their spot. If a contracted skater or Prepaid Random shows up after the 10 minute allotment, and their ice has been purchased, they will have lost their spot, and will not be able to skate the session. No refunds will be given for late shows. The late skater may however, put their name on the cancellation area of the ice session.

Prepaid Random Ice:
A skater may purchase certain dates in advance and prepay at the Random rate if there is availability on the ice sessions, thus guaranteeing them spot on those sessions as if they had contracted. Payment on the day of the session, is not Prepayment, and follows the rule of allowing skaters who arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the session to hold their spot.

Procedure For Purchasing Prepaid Random Ice:
  1. Check with the Rink Parent for availability of sessions you wish to Random.
  2. The Rink Parent will enter your name on the specific dates you have chosen.
  3. Rink Parent will mark pre-paid on all the dates being Randomed, and mark with their initials.
  4. Pre-Pay for all dates you have reserved for yourself. Note the dates and the sessions on the envelope.
  5. Pay by check. NB NSC FSC is not responsible for lost or unrecorded cash payments.

Non-Club Skaters:
Non-club skaters may purchase 3 random ice sessions in a club year. After 3 Randoms the skater must become a club member to continue skating on club ice. Non-Home club or Associate member Pros cannot teach on club ice.
