Skater Conduct and Ice Rules

Ice Rules

  1. Sportsmanship is expected of all skaters, parents, and coaches both on and off the ice.
  2. Courtesy is to be shown for a skater performing their freestyle program to music.  Please give the skater the right of way.
  3. It is the responsibility of all skaters and coaches to avoid getting in each other's way.
  4. All skaters must check in on the contract book before they enter the ice.
  5. All random ice must be paid before the skater enters the ice.
  6. If you are on the ice surface you must be in motion.  If you must stop for any reason, please move to the sideboards and look around before leaving the boards again to avoid colliding with another skater.
  7. Coaching from the sides is encouraged.
  8. No standing in the middle of the rink.
  9. Skaters must avoid the jump harness when it is in use, even if your music is being played.
  10. All skaters are eligible for one program to be played before a skater plays their music a second or third time or a different program to music.
  11. Spins should be practiced in the middle of the rink.
  12. Move to a new location each time a spin is practiced.  Try to stay out of the corners unless you are practicing your program(s).
  13. To be on the ice a National Sports Center liability waiver must be signed.  Additional copies are in the ice contract book.
  14. Guest coaches must have prior approval from the National Sports Center Skating Director, Jane Schaber, or the Assistant Director, Anna Leik.
